First Win of the Season for Tennis

Box Score HOMEWOOD, IL – Bradley Tennis picked up its first victory of the season, taking a seventh consecutive victory against the Chicago State Cougars, 6-1, at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club Saturday afternoon.
 
Despite losing serve at Nos. 1 and 3 Doubles, Bradley was able to claw back and secure victories. For Kirstin Hailey/Madalena Andrade at No. 1, the triumph was their first as a tandem. Meanwhile, Bozana Lojpur/Nikki Perlwitz took their 32nd victory together.
 
BU kept its momentum rolling into singles, with Perlwitz and Maria Bezmenova racing to first set victories. They were closely followed by the top third of the rotation, as Lojpur and Perlwitz closed out their opening sets.
 
Lojpur was first to the finish line in singles, collecting a 6-1, 6-1 victory for her first career victory at the No. 1 position. She was followed in the victory column by Perlwitz and Hailey, the latter securing the match win for BU.
 
Nina Marjanovic and Bezmenova were last to finish, each collecting three-set wins. Both secured their first match singles wins of the season.
 
Bradley Tennis back in action tomorrow against future Missouri Valley Conference foe UIC at 1 p.m. at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago.
 
Match Notes: With her 54 career singles wins, Nikki Perlwitz has moved into a tie ninth place in program career singles victories. By winning her 32nd match with Bozana Lojpur in doubles, the duo moved into a tie for fifth place for program wins by a doubles team… Kirstin Hailey picked up her second consecutive dual match singles victory at No. 2 Singles… BU improves to 16-4 in the series against the Cougars, including 6-3 on the road… The Braves have won a series-best seven straight matchups against Chicago State.
