PEORIA, Ill. – Senior pitcher/utility Grace French (Benicia, Calif./Benicia) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Thursday after tossing a no-hitter to highlight last weekend's action for Bradley Softball at the Mizzou Classic.

French hit .214 with a triple, home run, two runs and two RBI in addition to throwing Bradley's first no-hitter since 2007 to help the Braves to a 3-2 record at last weekend's Mizzou Classic in Columbia, Mo.  She homered in Saturday's victory against NCAA Division I newcomer St. Thomas, which reached last year's NCAA Division III College World Series.  French struck out a season-best six against #15 Missouri, limiting the Tigers to just two runs through the first four innings in the setback.  The highlight of the weekend came Sunday, when she turned in Bradley's first no-hitter dating back to 2007 in a rematch with St. Thomas.  French allowed just two walks as she collected her fifth career complete game shutout of her career.  A double major in kinesiology & health science, French owns a 3.84 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

French and the Braves return to action Friday, opening the final weekend of the non-conference schedule tomorrow with a 2:45 p.m. contest against North Alabama to kick off play in Nashville, Tenn., at the Bruin Classic.
