Women’s Golf 10th After Day One At Jackrabbit Invite

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Freshman Maria Perakis is tied for 36^th and Bradley Women's Golf closed the opening day of the Jackrabbit Invitational 10^th in the 16-team field at the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club Monday.

The Braves followed up an opening-round 319 with their lowest round of the spring, carding a 302 in the afternoon to close Monday's action 10^th in the team standings at 621. Bradley is two shots back of ninth-place North Dakota (619) and 14 strokes behind eighth-place Fairleigh Dickinson (607).

Rutgers sits atop the team standings at nine-under 576, three shots better than second-place South Dakota State (579). Middle Tennessee State rounds out the top three in the field at five-over 581.

Perakis had the low first-round score for the Braves, posting a five-over 77 to open play. She chased that with her lowest round of the spring, a four-over 76 and is tied for 36^th in the standings at 153, five shots out of the top 20.

Junior Mara Flaherty and senior Megan Welch are three back of Perakis in a tie for 48^th at 156. Flaherty matched her season-best and the lowest round of her career with a 72 in the second round. Welch turned in rounds of 79 and 77 Monday to push her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 20, the sixth longest streak in program history.

Playing in her first tournament of the year after missing the fall season with an injury, sophomore Harriet Barker closed the day at 157 in a tie for 53^rd. She chased a first-round 80 with a five-over 77 in the second round.

Senior Elyse Emerzian rounded out the team-scoring for Bradley, firing a season-best 78 in the second round and is tied for 66^th at 161.

The final round of the Jackrabbit Invitational tees off Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. (CDT).
