Perakis Paces Braves At Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Freshman Maria Perakis paced Bradley Women's Golf for the fifth time this season, tying for 29th to help the Braves to a 10th-place team finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational Tuesday.

Perakis turned in her lowest round of the spring season with a 72 Tuesday at the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club as she tied for 29th overall at nine-over 225. She finished four shots from earning her fourth top-20 finish of the year.

Bradley was one shot better than Monday's second round, carding a 301 for the team's low round of the spring as the Braves held onto 10^th (922) in the 16-team field. North Dakota finished ninth at 912, 10 shots ahead of Bradley and Fairleigh Dickinson was eighth in the field (905). A second-team for Rutgers finished six shots back of the Braves in 11th at 928, with Cal State-Northridge 12th overall at 292.

Middle Tennessee claimed the team title at even par 864 to edge tournament-host and second-place finisher South Dakota State (867) by three strokes. Missouri State was third overall at 871, while Rutgers entered the day in first, but slipped to fourth in the final standings at 872.

Sophomore Harriet Barker finished off the best 54-hole tournament of her career, tying for 45th at 231 after firing a career-best two-over 74 Tuesday.

Senior Megan Welch pushed her streak of consecutive sub-80 rounds to 21, matching her second round score of 77 on the final day to earn a share of 54th at 233. Junior Mara Flaherty was one shot behind Welch in a tie for 59th at 234, turning in a final round 78.

Rounding out the team lineup for Bradley, senior Elyse Emerzian finished in 82nd at 252 for the tournament. Sophomore Vaijayanti Bharkhada was in the field as an individual and was right behind Emerzian at 258 in a tie for 83rd, matching her second round score with an 81 on the final day.

Bradley returns to action March 28 & 29 in St. Charles, Mo., at the Diane Daugherty Invitational.
