INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior Josh Kirkham is one shot off the lead in a tie for third at one-under 69, while Bradley Men's Golf finished the opening day at the Butler Spring Invitational fifth in the 12-team standings after posting the lowest team round in nearly a year.

Fresh off his career-best round of 67 to wrap up last week's Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, Kirkham fired a one-under 69 Monday at the par-70 Highland Golf and Country Club.  He is tied for third in the individual standings, one shot back of co-leaders Anthony Delisanti of Valparaiso and Luke Armbrust of Illinois, who sit atop the individual leaderboard at two-under 68 heading into Tuesday's final round.

Bradley shot 291 for the team's lowest round since mid-April of last year and the Braves find themselves in fifth in the team standings.  Valparaiso leads the team standings at one-under 279 with tournament-host Butler second at 286.  Bradley is one shot back of a tie for third between Youngstown State and Green Bay at 290 and the Braves have a one-shot lead on Morehead State and Detroit Mercy, who both carded 292's and are tied for sixth overall.

Kirkham, who fired six birdies Monday, turned in his fourth sub-70 round of the season and is now one of seven individuals in program history with at least four career rounds in the 60's.

Transfer Aaeri Krishnan is two shots behind Kirkham in a tie for 11th, firing a season-best one-over 71 in the opening round.  Junior Nick Armbrust matched his low round of the 2021-22 season with a five-over 75 and is tied for 54th.  Fellow junior Roy Radke posted his lowest round of the spring with a 76 and sophomore Brady Kreiter also turned in a first-round 76 as the pair closed the day in a tie for 67th.

Playing as an individual, junior John Stillman is tied for 74th, carding a first-round 77 for his lowest effort of the spring.

The final round of the Butler Spring Invitational is slated to tee off Tuesday at 10 a.m. (CDT).
