ST. LOUIS – Bradley sophomore middle distance runner Julia Nielsen (Gothenburg, Sweden) has been named the first Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week for the 2022 outdoor season, according to an announcement from the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Nielsen set the early standard for the league in the 800 meters during this past weekend's Raleigh Relays, earning a sixth-place finish among the event's 123 runners by clocking 2:06.83. Her time is 3.67 seconds faster than the second-best time in The Valley in the early season and her sixth-place finish at the Raleigh Relays was the best by any MVC student-athlete during the meet, which included competitors from Illinois State and Loyola Chicago.

The Bradley Men's and Women's Track teams return to action this weekend by competing in the Illinois State Redbird Invite Saturday at the Redbird Track and Field Complex.
