Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Josh Schwam, Communications Student Assistant
PEKIN, IL – For the first time since Bradley Tennis joined the Missouri Valley Conference, BU clinched a winning season in league play in three straight years that MVC matches were played after a 5-2 victory against the Valparaiso Beacons Saturday afternoon at Parkside Fitness.

Prior to the match, Bradley honored its three seniors – Nina Marjanovic, Bozana Lojpur and Nikki Perlwitz – with a pre-match ceremony.

BU got off to a hot start in doubles, winning the first two matches to finish. Lojpur/Perlwitz raced to a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot, while Maria Bezmenova and Nina Marjanovic finished shortly after with a 6-3 triumph at No. 3 Doubles.

In singles, Bezmenova dropped only two games en-route to a brisk 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 Singles to put BU ahead 2-1.

Kirstin Hailey needed extra time to win her first set, before cruising in the second set at No. 2 Singles. She took a 7-6 (6), 6-2 win to put the Braves ahead 3-1.

Madalena Andrade sealed the win at No. 3 Singles in comeback fashion winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

After the match had gone final, Nikki Perlwitz secured Bradley's fifth point of the afternoon winning 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6 Singles.

BU will be back in action on Friday at the Missouri Valley Conference Tennis Championships, held at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on the campus of Drake University. The full draw will be announced Sunday by The Valley.

Match notes: Lojpur/Perlwitz won their 42nd match together, good for a tie for second for most doubles wins by a pair in BU program history… Kirstin Hailey ends her the regular season at 4-4 across singles and doubles. Her four wins are the second most in the MVC by a freshman, and the most by a player playing higher than No. 4 Singles and No. 3 Doubles… Her two wins at No. 2 Singles are the second most in Valley play this season and her .500 winning percentage is the highest among No. 2 players… Perlwitz's victory moved her to 5-0 in MVC singles play this season, only the third Brave to accomplish the feat… Her four wins at No. 6 Singles are the most in The Valley this season, making her the favorite for All-MVC… Lojpur's win in doubles was the 118th of her career, which is good for fifth in program history for combined wins... BU has clinched a third straight winning season in MVC play for the first time in program history.
