NORMAL, Ill. – Senior Megan Welch earned her team-best third top-10 finish of the year and the fifth of her career, taking third in the individual standings as she helped Bradley Women's Golf to a fourth-place team showing at the Redbird Spring Invitational Saturday.

Welch finished four shots back of individual medalist Ali Schrock of Illinois State at three-over 147 at the par-72 Weibring Golf Club, finishing third overall after rounds of 74 and 73 during Saturday's action at the shortened Redbird Spring Invitational.  Posting five birdies during her second-round one-over 73, which is her lowest round of the spring, Welch tied for the 11th-best 36-hole score in program history (147).

Bradley took fourth in the nine-team field at 35-over 611, chasing a first-round 307 with a 304 in the afternoon as the Braves turned in the ninth-best 36-hole team score in school history.  Finishing eight shots better than fifth-place Southern Illinois (619), Bradley was 13 behind third-place Northern Illinois (598).  Illinois State and Drake shared the top spot in the team standings at 19-over 595.

Senior Sarah Nacos collected her first top-20 showing of the year, taking 16th in the field at eight-over 152.  Nacos matched her career-low in the first round with a three-over 75 and was one of Braves to card a second-round 77.  The first-round 75 matched her career-low round of 75 set during the 2019-20 season.

Junior Mara Flaherty was two shots better in the afternoon, following up a first-round 79 with a 77 to finish four back of Nacos in a tie for 24th at 156.  Flaherty was one shot from earning her first top-20 finish of the season.

Sophomore Harriet Barker fired matching 79's to earn a share of 29th at 158, while freshman Maria Perakis was one shot back in a tie for 32nd at 159 after rounds of 82 and 77 to round out the team scoring for the Braves.

Freshman Kathryn McNease was in the field as an individual and opened Saturday's action with her lowest round since early October, posting a first-round 76.  A second-round 77 helped her tie for 17th at 153, as she earned her second top-20 finish of the year.

Also playing as an individual, senior Elyse Emerzian matched Welch for the low round of the day for Bradley with a one-over 73 in the second round.  The 73 was a season-best for Emerzian and matched her lowest round since she fired a career-best 71 at the Weibring Golf Club in the second round of the Redbird Invitational back on Sept. 8, 2019.  Emerzian had a first-round 86 and tied for 32nd overall at 159.

Bradley returns to action April 17-19 in Kirkwood, Mo., at the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
