Lucy Mead Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Senior Lucy Mead (West Seattle, Wash./West Seattle) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after hitting .600 in last weekend's series against Northern Iowa to conclude the regular season.

Mead went 6-for-10 in the three games against MVC regular-season champion Northern Iowa, collecting 40 percent of Bradley's hits in the series. She had two doubles, one RBI and one stolen base for the weekend as Bradley snapped the Panthers' 17-game Valley win streak with a 2-1 victory in Sunday's regular-season finale. A psychology major, Mead owns a 3.35 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Mead and the Braves open play at the 2022 MVC Championship Thursday with an 11 a.m. second-round matchup against the winner of Wednesday's opening-round game between #8 Loyola and #9 Evansville.
