Junior George Watson has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced on Wednesday.

Watson completed a historic Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship this past weekend when he became the first Brave in school history to sweep the 5,000m and 10,000m races. Watson opened the championship on Friday by becoming the first BU runner to claim the 10,000m crown when he crossed the finish line in first place with a time 29:43.60. He then followed up two days later with the 5,000m title in a personal-best time of 14:06.66.

Off the track, Watson owns a 3.33 grade point average while pursuing his master's in business administration.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

The Braves return to action on Wednesday, May 25, competing at the NCAA West Preliminary on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
