Josh Kirkham Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Senior men's golfer Josh Kirkham (Austin, Texas/Fenwick [Ill.]) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Thursday after tying for eighth at the season-opening Wildcat Invitational.

Kirkham earned the fourth top-10 finish of his career, posting the lowest 54-hole score by a Brave since 2018-19 as he tied for eighth at the season-opening Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. The top Missouri Valley Conference finisher in a 15-field which included Valley rivals Southern Illinois and Drake, Kirkham opened action with a pair of 72's on Monday and chased with a two-under 70 to finish at two-under 214 at the par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Club. He carded 12 birdies and one eagle to help the Braves to a fifth-place team finish. A finance major, Kirkham owns a 3.16 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Kirkham and the Braves return to action Sept. 19 & 20 in Chesterton, Ind., at the Valpo Fall Invitational.
