Cross Country Splits at WIU Early Bird

The Bradley men's cross country team finished first at the Western Illinois Early Bird Meet on Friday night, while the women placed second.

The men placed five in the top eight to claim the team title. Sophomore Mickey Vreeland led BU by placing third overall with a 6K time of 19:28.5. He was followed by Rodrigo Alvarez Gonzalez in fifth (19:49.7), Ivan Westcott in sixth (20:00.7), Billy Hauenstein in seventh (20:09.4) and Max McDaniel in eighth (20:25.5).

The women added three top-five finishes on the day. Freshman Alice Narciso led BU in her collegiate debut in third place and was followed by Julia de La Piedra Sitjas in fourth and Kelly Carpenter in fifth.

The Braves are back in action in two weeks, hosting the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday, September 16.
