PEORIA, Ill. – Graduate student Alec Danner (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning the individual title at last week's Bradley Intercollegiate, while helping Bradley Men's Cross Country to the team title.

Danner claimed his first collegiate cross country individual title, posting the fastest 8K time in school history at 23:49.2 as he topped the previous mark of 23:58.3 by teammate George Watson set last year at Florida State.  In addition, Danner broke the Bradley Intercollegiate record of 24:13 set by Elkanah Kibet in 2006.  An economics major, Danner finished his undergraduate degree with a 3.48 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Danner and the Bradley Cross Country teams are back in action Sept. 30 in South Bend, Ind., at the Joe Piane Invite.
