Bradley Women’s Cross Country Shines at Notre Dame

In a meet that featured a total of 10 teams receiving votes in the latest national poll, the Bradley women's cross country shined on Friday morning at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational, which included a school-record individual performance.

With four top-10 teams in the nation competing, Bradley placed 10th in the stacked 20-team field, which included finishing higher than both San Francisco and Penn State, who were receiving votes in the rankings.

On an individual level, two Braves recorded the fastest 5K times in school history. Sophomore Nicola Jansen placed 19th overall of 186 runners with the quickest trek in school history at 16:30.8. Senior Tyler Schwartz, meanwhile, clocked the school's second-fastest time in 16:37.2 to place 26th. The duo finished 24 and 17 seconds quicker than the previous standard of 16:54.20, set by Caitlin Busch in 2015.

Senior Sophia McDonnell also posted a time of 17:06.5 to clock the fifth-best mark in BU history, while Peyton Schieppe's mark of 17:22.4 ranks ninth in the program's record book.

The Bradley men, meanwhile, placed 19th as a team on Notre Dame's five-mile course. Graduate Alec Danner led the Braves by placing 45th overall with a time of 24:10.1 and was followed by George Watson at 24:24.4 and Charlie Parrish in 24:33.3.

The Braves return to action in two weeks, hosting the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course on Friday, Oct. 14.
