Last Time Out
Last weekend, the Bradley Track & Field team participated in the Hawkeye Invite in Iowa City. The Braves were headlined record-breaking performance from
Wilma Nielsen in the 600-meter race. Her time of 1:29.78 set the school record, as well as the Hawkeye Invite record for the best time in the 600m.
Sophia McDonnell also brought home a win in the Women's 1-mile race.
What's Ahead
Most of the team is heading back to Iowa this weekend except for freshman
Peyton Schieppe. Schieppe will be competing at the U20 USA Cross Country Championship in Richmond, Virginia. She will be competing in the Women's 6K event and will attempt to qualify for the World Championships which will be held in Bathurst, Australia on February 18th.
If Schieppe qualifies, she will participate as a member of Team USA in the U20 division.
The race this weekend is being held at Pole Green Park.
The rest of the team is heading back to Iowa but the team vans will stop in Iowa City to drop off three student-athletes at the Larry Weiczorek Invitational.
Tiana LoStracco,
Julia Nielsen and
Wilma Nielsen will all compete in this invitational.
All three Braves will be running in the 800-meter race and it is expected to be a big day. It could be another record-breaking performance in this race.
Lastly, the rest of the team will continue to Ames, Iowa for the Cyclone Open, hosted by Iowa State. The various events between the men and women include races from 60m to 3000m, relay events and the long jump.
Other Schools Competing
In the Larry Weiczorek Invitational, schools such as Illinois, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and Wisconsin are notable colleges competing as well.
Some of the top schools in the Cyclone Open include Drake, Iowa State, Minnesota and Omaha.
