Pekin, Ill. -- The Bradley Women's Tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Saturday over the Chicago State Cougars, 4-3.
The Braves hosted the Cougars at Parkside Fitness in Pekin on Saturday. The two teams met for a match with doubles play starting the day. The Cougars won two of the three matches.
Madalena Andrade and
Kirstin Hailey suffered a defeat, 5-7 after they held an early lead in their match.
Alexandra Hildreth and
Mariia Pukhina battled back and forth early against their opponents but fell, 3-6.
Anna Belogliadova and
Maria Bezmenova captured the lone win in their doubles match, 6-4.
In singles matches, the Braves won four of the six matches. Pukhina had a great comeback in the first set to win 7-6 (1) but dropped the next two sets, 1-6, 2-6. Belogliadova picked up the first win for the Braves in singles play in 6-3, 6-4 fashion. Hailey went the distance in her match but picked up a victory in two sets, 7-5, 7-6 (5).
Bezmenova dropped the opening set of her match 1-6 but battled to win the next two sets, 6-4, 6-4. Andrade won convincingly in her match, 6-0, 6-4.
Madi Rogers fought hard in her match but fell 7-6 (8), 1-6, 8-10.

Matt Tyler. "It's always tough to lose the doubles point and come back to win 4 out of 6 singles matches for the win. I think we showed great focus and determination against at very good CSU (Chicago State) team."
What's Coming Up?
The Braves head out west next week to Omaha, Nebraska. On Saturday, Bradley will take on former Missouri Valley Conference foe Creighton. On Sunday, the Braves will take on Omaha before returning home.
