Iowa Open Preview
24 Track and Field team members will make their way to Iowa City this Friday to compete. The men will compete in a total of six events including the 60m, 200m, 400m, 1 Mile, 3000m,
and 60m high hurdles.
Eli Rieker is competing in the 60m race after he broke the school record in the 60m last week in the GVSU Big Meet.
The women will compete in ten events including the 60m, 200m, 400m, 600m, 1 Mile, 3000m, 60m high hurdles and the high jump.
Leah Thames will be running in the 60m and the 200m, both of which she captured school records in last week at the GVSU Big Meet.
Last Time Out
The team brought home six school records in their last two meets. At the GVSU Big Meet,
Leah Thames claimed two school records, one in the Women's 200m with a time of 24.96 and one in the Women's 60m with a time of 7.80.
Eli Rieker claimed the third school record in the Men's 60m with a time of 6.99.
Three more records were collected at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
Wilma Nielsen took the school record in the Women's 800m with a time of 2:02.91.
Nicola Jansen broke the school record in the Women's 3000m run with a time of 9:13.60 and
Matt Aho took the school record in the Men's 5000m with a time of 14:06.86.
