The Braves returned home to host the Illinois State Redbirds in a doubleheader.
In the first game of the day, the Braves were defeated 3-0. The Redbirds loaded the bases early in the game multiple times, but
Grace French was able to get out of the jams with solid pitching. Bradley tallied two hits in the game, both coming from freshman
Kierston McCoy, who picked up a single and a double in the loss. French started the game for the Braves, throwing a complete game. She gave up 11 hits, three runs (two earned) and two walks while striking out five. Bradley faced Illinois State's top pitcher in Hannah Ross, who pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
The Braves got on the board early in the second game. After getting on base,
Austin Comstock made it around the bases on a double from
Allie Paregien in the second inning. Bradley would extend its lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning after
Jordy van der Werf walked with the bases loaded, sending French to score. The Redbirds would come back in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs, four of which came with two outs in the inning. Illinois State would extend its lead to 6-2 in the top of the sixth when a runner tagged up from third on a popout foul. With
Ashley Breeding on second base,
Lauren DeRolf smacked a double to the outfield, sending Breeding home to score. It would be the final run of the game for the Braves, who lost 6-3.
The Braves return to Peoria for a mid-week two-game series against the Illinois State Redbirds on April 4th and 5th before hosting Drake for a weekend series.
