Track & Field Begins 2025 Indoor Season in Iowa City

PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Track & Field begins the 2025 Track & Field season this weekend at the Jimmy Grant Alumni Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa, in Iowa City as the Braves compete in the only meet of 2024.

PREVIOUSLY IN IOWA
The Braves competed at Iowa three times in the 2024 Indoor season, with the most recent being the Iowa Open on Feb. 16. Kyra Koontz broke her own school record in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.61 seconds, lowering the record from 8.88 seconds. Kaden Kingsmith, Mason Jones and Ivan Westcott swept the podium in the men's 800m. Jaela Pierson set the third-fastest women's 60m time in program history with a 7.85. 

2024 SEASON RECAP
Bradley is coming off a successful 2024 Indoor Track & Field season, highlighted by strong individual performances at the 2024 MVC Indoor Championships. Julia Nielson was named MVC Most Outstanding Athlete and co-MVC Most Valuable Athlete after taking gold in the women's mile and 800m races. Trixie Wraith won MVC Freshman of the Year after finishing runner-up to Nielson in the women's mile and taking second in the women's 3000m. Kaitlyn Sheppard, Wraith, Lena Stolla and Amiyah Davis won MVC gold in the women's Distance Medley Relay and Jack Crull won the men's 800m race, setting a new school record in the process.

Eight currently-standing program records were set in 2024 across the Indoor season, including five records set in 2024 held by returning athletes. Overall, eight records are held by current Track & Field athletes, including those set prior to 2024.

COMING UP...
The Braves will break for a month before continuing the Indoor Track & Field season with the Hawkeye Invitational on Jan. 18, their second of three consecutive meets hosted by Iowa.
