IOWA CITY, Iowa – Two new program records were set to begin the 2024-25 season for Bradley Track & Field as the Braves competed in the Jimmy Grant Invitational in Iowa City on Saturday.
Kaden Kingsmith broke a 35-year-old program record in the men's 1000m, completing the race in 2:25.88. The new mark breaks John McConnell's previous record of 2:29.34, set in 1989. Kingsmith finished the race in second place, just five hundreths of a second off of first.
Carolina Martinez set a new program record in the women's 300m in her first collegiate meet with a 40.18. Martinez breaks a 41-year-old record, edging out Estmi Codrington's 40.9 in 1983.
Other notable performances include
Anna Perry's victory in the women's 3000m and
Jaxson Copelin's first-place finish in the men's mile.
In addition to Kingsmith and Martinez's new program records, multiple new top 10 marks and personal bests were set amongst the team. On the women's team Olivia Redpath ran the fourth-fastest women's 60m time with 7.85.
Hope Rajlich set the fourth-fastest women's 300m time at 42.11 seconds, while
Amiyah Davis' 1:33.17 in the women's 600m marked the fourth-fastest time in Bradley history.
Among men's competitors, Bryndon Wallace ran the fifth-fastest men's 60m time in program history with 7.19 seconds, while
Roman Lewis (36.19) and Brayson Barth (36.79) set the fourth- and ninth-fastest times in program history in the men's 300m.
