PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University men's track & field athlete Kaden Kingsmith has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. Kingsmith was honored after setting a new program record in the men's 1000m at the University of Iowa.

The sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, broke a 35-year-old Bradley Indoor Track & Field record in the men's 1000m discipline at Iowa's Jimmy Grant Invitational. Kingsmith completed the race in 2:25.88, four seconds faster than John McConnell's 1989 record. In the men's 1000m race, Kingsmith finished a close second place, just five hundredths of a second behind the race winner.

Kingsmith's strong performance and academic success have earned him this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
