Game Recap: Softball | | Allison Novak

TERRE HAUTE, IN.– The Braves came back with vengeance, following their 7-0 loss to the Sycamores, with an 11-0 run rule victory to close out their first conference series.

"First conference series win is a great start for this group," said Head Coach Sarah Willis. "Especially as they showed themselves their ability to bounce back from a poor showing on day two. We will keep focusing on the next step."

Game Recap

The Braves offense propelled early and often as they were able to take their first conference series win of the season.

The story of the season continued with Sydney Kennedy, who had 6 strikeouts and 2 hits in 6.0 innings of work. Kennedy picks up her 8th win of the season and 3rd of the week.

"Kennedy being able to contribute in the lineup is a big advantage as it enables us to put our best defense on the field while adding more bats into the lineup," said Willis.

Offensively, Kierston McCoy started the outpouring of runs with a solo-HR in the second inning.

It wasn't until the fifth inning that the Braves were able to break open the scoring. Tori Meyer started the scoring with a single, scoring Addie Welsh

Abbott Badgley continued the fifth inning with a 3-run HR to put the Braves up 5-0.

The sixth inning started in the same fashion as the fifth, with a Meyer single to score Welsh.

Bailey Sample got in on the action with a double to bring home Meyer.

Badgley picked up her 4th RBI of the game with a double, scoring Sample to put the score at 9-0.

The Braves were able to take down the Sycamores 11-0 to close out the series.

"The offense was putting some great at bats together and putting the ball hard in play throughout the first half of the game," said Willis. "They stuck with the plan and it paid off with the outcomes we were looking for."

Coming Up…

The Braves will commence a five-game home stand starting on Mar. 20th with a doubleheader against Loyola-Chicago at 3pm and 5pm.
