Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Peoria, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball dropped its first game of the season Saturday evening, falling 75–67 on the road at IU Indy. The Braves slipped to 2–1 after a back-and-forth matchup that featured 13 lead changes and eight ties, with IU Indy pulling away late behind a strong fourth quarter.

A Competitive Start

Both teams opened with energy, trading early baskets as Bradley worked through IU Indy's pressure. The Braves shot 46 percent in the first quarter and held multiple narrow leads, but the Jaguars capitalized on turnovers and points in the paint to edge ahead 18–13 after 10 minutes. Bradley responded in the second frame with timely shooting, including a pair of threes and strong drives from Kaylen Nelson, trimming the halftime deficit to just 31–29.

Standout Performances for Bradley

Kaylen Nelson paced the Braves with a team-high 21 points, adding six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in another strong two-way performance. Freshman Maya Foz delivered 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a team-high seven steals, impacting the game on both ends. Claire McDougall provided efficient minutes off the bench with 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while Kali Fortson fought on the glass for five rebounds and chipped in five points.

Turning Point in the Third

Bradley briefly grabbed momentum midway through the third quarter, using an 8–0 run to take a 38–35 lead. But IU Indy answered immediately, converting second-chance opportunities and attacking downhill to outscore the Braves 22–19 in the period. The Jaguars' late-quarter surge created a 53–48 advantage heading into the fourth.

Defensive Notes

Bradley forced 16 turnovers and turned them into 24 points, with Foz and Wardle combining for seven steals. The Braves also produced 12 second-chance points and held IU Indy to just two made threes on the night, but the Jaguars' interior scoring proved decisive.

Coming Up…

Bradley will travel to Macomb to take on the Western Illinois Leathernecks on Thursday, Nov. 20. Tipoff will be at 7 pm.
