COLUMBIA, Mo. – Competing against the country's best runners,
JD Rosslee ran the fastest 10-kilometer time in program history at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Columbia, Mo.
The South African clocked a 29:31.3 for the first sub-30-minute 10K time in program history. Rosslee shattered his own program record, 30:07.7 at last year's Midwest Regional at Newman Golf Course, by over 30 seconds. Including 10-kilometer Outdoor Track & Field times, it marks only the 10th time ever a Brave has run a 10K race in under 30 minutes.
Rosslee, making his first career national meet appearance and Bradley's first NCAA Cross Country Championship appearance since 2018, finished the race in 87th place – the best NCAA Championship finish for a Bradley man since 2016, when Michael Ward placed 71st – out of a field of over 250 runners. Rosslee worked his way up the leaderboard throughout the race, consistently running one-kilometer splits between 2:55 and 3:02 over the course of the first nine kilometers. A final-kilometer split of 2:47 helped him jump 27 positions and secure the 87th-place finish.
The finish caps another sensational cross country season for Rosslee, headlined by winning Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Year after placing first in the Men's 8K Conference Championship on Oct. 31. The junior earned the first All-Region honor of his career after finishing 12th at the Midwest Regional and was the only athlete from The Valley, male or female, to qualify for the National Championships.
