PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University women's basketball athlete
Kaylen Nelson has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. Nelson was honored after averaging 20 points per game over two contests during the week and making eight three-pointers against Western Illinois, tying the single-game program record.
The fifth-year senior from Tulsa, Oklahoma, scored 26 and 14 points against Western Illinois on Nov. 20 and Bellarmine on Nov. 23, respectively. Her 26-point outing in Macomb was her third 20-point game of the season. Nelson also went 12-for-22 from three-point range during the week, highlighted by draining eight threes against Western Illinois. Her eight three-pointers marks the fourth time it has happened in program history and is the most by a Brave in a game since Gabi Haack hit eight on Dec. 28, 2017.
Nelson's strong performance and academic success have earned her this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
