Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Ben Kinealy

Peoria, Ill. – Bradley Women's Basketball fell in their road-trip finale to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday, 93-52.

A Back-and-Forth First Quarter

The Braves jumped out to an early lead thanks to a Kaylen Nelson jumper and an Ellie McDermid three-pointer, but the Cornhuskers stormed back to take the lead, going up by 11 with just over three minutes left in the first quarter. Bradley battled back to cut the deficit down to six before the end of the first 10 minutes. Nebraska came out firing in the second quarter, going on an 11-point run while holding the Braves off the score sheet for the first four minutes of the quarter. At halftime, the Cornhuskers had a 20-point advantage over the Braves.

Standout Performances for Bradley

Nelson finished the day with another double-digit performance, posting 13 points while adding five rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal. Maya Foz had a strong outing, scoring nine points with two steals, two assists, and a rebound. Kali Fortson put up eight points and four rebounds despite only playing 13 minutes.

A Rough Second Half

Nebraska continued to control the game in the third quarter, holding the Braves to just nine points while going on a 12-point run to extend their lead to 29. The Cornhuskers maintained their momentum in the final quarter, scoring 27 points to Bradley's 17 to close out the 92-53 win.

Defensive Notes

Despite the rough outing, Bradley did a great job of limiting Nebraska's three-point shooting, forcing them to go 6-for-21 from beyond the arc. The Cornhuskers did a great job dominating inside, scoring 56 of their 93 points in the paint.

Coming Up…

Bradley returns home on Sunday, December 7, at 2 p.m. to face Chicago State, beginning a three-game homestand.
