Peoria, Ill. - Bradley Women's Basketball dropped their first game of the four-game road trip to Northern Iowa on Friday 69-51.
A Competitive Start
The Braves and the Panthers went back and forth in the first quarter, exchanging the lead four times and Bradley had a 14-13 lead over UNI heading into the second quarter. The game went downhill from there as the Braves struggled to maintain their momentum in the second quarter, trailing 32-22 at halftime.
Standout Performances for Bradley
-
Soleil Barnes led the team with 14 points while grabbing a rebound and totaling two assists and a block while shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Barnes' efforts earned her the Ameren Illinois Player of the Game.
-
Kaylen Nelson led the team in assists with four while also scoring 10 points and grabbing three boards while not turning the ball over once.
-
Tamia Perryman has put up back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts, scoring 11 points in this one while totaling two assists and one rebound.
Turnover Turmoil
The Braves turned the ball over 21 times to the Panthers nine which also leads to UNI scoring 25 points off of those turnovers to Bradley's seven. Those turnovers also probably played a part in Northern Iowa's 10 points from fast breaks that the Braves couldn't capitalize on throughout the game.
Struggles from the Bench
Bradley played a total of 11 players and of the six that came off the bench, Perryman was the only one that put up any points. The other five players on the bench combined for 25 minutes, four rebounds, an assist, and three turnovers.
Coming up…
The Braves will hope to get back on track as they travel to Iowa to take on the Drake Bulldogs on February 9.
