ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Mariia Pukhina has been named Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week for Women's Tennis, per the weekly MVC Women's Tennis Notebook released on April 2.
Pukhina wins the honor after going 2-0 in her singles matches over the weekend against Drake & UNI. Pukhina defeated Drake's Elizabete Klavinska 6-1, 6-1 and Northern Iowa's Lorena Cardoso 6-2, 7-6 (3) as Bradley split the pair of conference matches in Pekin. Pukhina is now a perfect 3-0 in singles play in conference matches and 13-8 in singles action on the season. Pukhina is 8-4 in the #2 court position in 2025 and has won five of her last six matches.
This is Pukhina's first Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor of her career. Pukhina is the first player to win a Player of the Week honor since
Maria Bezmenova won MVC Singles Player of the Week on March 3, 2024.
