The Bradley Braves
Fresh off a 4-0 win over the Millikin Big Blue last Friday, The Bradley Braves will be hunting their second straight win and third overall for the 2025 season.
Mitch Coughlon collected two goals in the win bringing his season total to three which leads the team.
DJ Koulai and
Connor Chester also scored with Chester's goal being the first of his college career! With this trip to Green Bay, it begins a stretch of six games where the Braves will play two of their next six contests at home before closing out the regular season with two out of their final four matches at Shea Stadium. Bradley as a program has never claimed an outright win versus Green Bay but has come awfully close over the years. In 2011, the two sides played to a 1-1 double overtime draw at Shea Stadium and battled again to a draw in 2023 to a 0-0 final line.
Bradley has come extremely close to landing some big road wins this season with road draws at Marquette and Purdue Fort Wayne, who each sit with a .500 record or better. When the Braves have been at their best this season they have played a complementary brand of soccer. In both of Bradley's wins so far they recorded clean sheets and were able to capitalize on their chances with over 6+ shots on goal in each of their two wins.
The Green Bay Phoenix
Green Bay will be looking to bounce back after a 2-1 loss at the hands of Detroit Mercy. Following that contest Green Bay capped off a four game road stretch which started with them nearly pulling off an upset over #7 Indiana (2-1) before meeting up with Southern Indiana, Western Illinois and Northern Kentucky ending in a three game winning streak. On the field the Phoenix are led by #9 Chris Album and #14 Keegan Walker who have both scored atleast two goals this season. Walker may be a familiar name for some of those in Peoria as he spent time with Peoria City Soccer in the USL2 this past summer, which included playing with a current handful of Braves such as
DJ Koulai,
Kevin Mejias, and
Drew Berry. Green Bay is coach by John O'Reilly who is in his second season as head coach. He is 14-10-2 all-time.
History Says!
If history is any indicator Tuesday's contest should be a very close one. Out of the previous five meetings between the two programs only one was decided by more than one goal and two of the five meetings have gone to full-time as a draws. Against the Horizon League as a whole, Bradley has shown success with a 18-17-6 lifetime record against current Horizon League members, including drawing at Purdue Fort Wayne this season who currently sits on in first place of the Horizon League table at 2-0 with six points.
