PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley University track & field athlete
Sawyer LeBlanc has been named this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday. LeBlanc was honored after finishing in first place in the men's Mile Premier Race at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.
The freshman from St. John's, Newfoundland, clocked a mile time of 4:05.92, prevailing over second place by roughly one second. The time ranks as the ninth-fastest mile time in men's indoor track & field history and currently ranks as the second-fastest in the Missouri Valley Conference this season. The time is also the 13th-fastest in the Midwest Region and is in the top 150 mile times in all of NCAA Division I.
LeBlanc's strong performance and academic success have earned him this week's Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete honor.
