Bradley and Belmont will clash in a Missouri Valley Conference match this weekend, with Bradley looking to earn its first conference win of the year while Belmont looks to build on its 1-0 start in league play. Bradley leads the all-time series 5-4-1, but Belmont has had the edge in recent meetings, earning three wins in the last four matchups.
The Bradley Braves
Bradley is looking to bounce back after a 2-1 home loss to the Bowling Green Falcons on October 3. Despite the result, the Braves put together a strong statistical performance and arguably had some of their best moments of the season. Bradley outshot the Falcons 24-10 and won the corner battle 12-5.
Offensively, Bradley continues to lead the MVC in scoring, averaging two goals per game through 10 games. Mitch Coughlon also continues to lead the MVC in total goals with seven. The Braves have shared the ball well this season, ranking third in the MVC with 1.3 assists per game.
The Belmont Bruins
Belmont earned a 2-1 road win over the Drake Bulldogs in its only MVC game to this point in the season, followed by a 0-0 non-conference draw against UAB. The Bruins are currently riding a three-game unbeaten streak heading into Sunday.
A duo of four-plus-goal scorers leads the Bruin attack, with Nate Mefford and Paul Claes Nielsen accounting for eight of Belmont's 21 goals this season. In goal, freshman Brody Sucher has taken control of the net, making 11 starts this season. He enters the match with a 1.42 goals-against average and 49 saves on 157 shots faced.
The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and is set for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff from E.S. Rose Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
