Weather Forces Tennis Indoors

PEORIA, Ill. – Existing inclement weather, combined with the forecast for evening thunderstorms, has forced the start of the 2012 Bradley Invitational men’s tennis tournament to be moved indoors to the Clubs at River City North.

Bradley is opening its 2012 fall schedule this weekend by hosting a quintet of lower division teams in the three-day tournament.  The Braves will be competing with players from Bethany (Kan.), Illinois-Springfield, Quincy, Southern Indiana and Southwest Baptist in a flighted, round-robin event.  The Bradley Invitational begins with four rounds of doubles play in four flights Friday at 3 p.m. at the Clubs at River City North (1527 W. Altorfer Drive).

With a forecast of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s for the remainder of the weekend, the final two days of competition in the Bradley Invitational are expected to be played as scheduled on campus at the David Markin Tennis Courts and at the nearby tennis courts in lower Laura Bradley Park (1314 Park Road).  The singles portion of the event will involve five rounds in eight flights, the first three rounds to be played Saturday and the final two rounds Sunday.

Bradley Invitational results will be updated throughout the weekend at the Tournament Central webpage at BradleyBraves.com.
