2025-26 SEASON
Cross Country: Ran in four meets during the 2025 season. Made his collegiate debut at the Fighting Illini Open, finishing 28th in the 6K race with a time of 18:33.0. Followed with a 24th-place finish at the Bradley Intercollegiate, clocking a time of 26:07.2. Set his best 8K time of the season in the Open race Joe Piane Invite, running 25:36.9. Placed 20th at 25:46.09 in the 8K White Race at the Bradley Pink Classic.

Indoor: Competed in six meets during the 2026 indoor season. Ran his lone 3000m race of the season in his first meet, running a time of 8:50.24 at the Cougar Alumni Open. Finished 20th in the Mile at the Meyo Invite with a time of 4:10.89. Ran 1:53.24 in his lone 800m race of the season at the Iowa State Classic. Set his Mile personal best at the David Hemery Valentine Invite, clocking a time of 4:10.07 to finish in the top half of a field of nearly 300 athletes.

Outdoor: Competed in five meets during the 2026 outdoor season. Clocked a 3:54.60 in his outdoor track debut in the 1500m at the WashU Distance Carnival. Finished in third place in the 800m event at the Billiken Invite, running a career-best time of 1:52.80. Placed seventh in the 1500m at the Pacesetter Invite, running 3:54.98. Set his 1500m career best at the Illini Deca-Jam, placing third with a time of 3:51.79. 


HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in 2025. A four-time OFSAA Medalist, he was also an OFSAA Champion and placed fourth at the Canadian Cross Country National Championships. Earned both Cross Country and Track & Field Team MVP awards from 2022-25 and earned Rookie of the Year in 2022. Earned the Tom Visser Award for Outstanding Athletic Achievement.

PERSONAL
The son of Andy and Amanda Schmalz, born May 25, 2007 in Mississauga, Ontario. Has three siblings: Natalie (20), Kinley (10) and Pearson (5). Amanda played soccer collegiately at Central Michigan and played with the Canadian national team from 2004-06.
