CAREER BESTS & RESULTS

2018-19 SEASON
Cross Country: Missed the season with an injury.
 
Indoor: Did not run during the indoor season.
 
Outdoor: Scored at the MVC Track Championship for the first time during his career, placing fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a PR time of 9:11.93 – the fifth-best mark in the school’s record book • Also ran the 1,500m at Indiana State with a career-best time of 4:04.08.

2017-18 SEASON
Cross Country: Received honorable mention to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Team • Finished among the team’s top-five finishers in all six meets he ran during the season • Helped the Braves to their third-straight MVC Championship with a 15th-place finish at the conference meet, winning a tiebreaker for BU to edge Indiana State for the team title • Posted a career-best 8K time of 25:18.4 at the Bradley Pink Classic • Team’s top finisher at the season-opening meet at Eastern Illinois.
 
Indoor: Ran the 3,000m and 5,000m events during his junior campaign • Registered the ninth-fastest time in school history in the 5,000m run, clocking a time of 14:58.87 at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational • Also set a PR in the 3,000m at the GVSU Big Meet in 8:29.92.
 
Outdoor: Did not compete during the outdoor season.

2016-17 SEASON
Cross Country: Ran in two meets during the season • Posted a season-best time of 26:07.2 on an 8K course at the Bradley Intercollegiate, placing 18th overall.
 
Indoor: Set PRs in the mile run (4:27.46 at the ONU Invitational) and in the 5,000m run (15:26.84 at the GVSU Big Meet) • Also ran the 3,000m with a mark of 9:02.49 at the Gladstein Invitational.
 
Outdoor: Ran the 3,000m steeplechase at the MVC Championship, placing 13th • Posted a season-best time of 9:27.14 in the event at the Redbird Invitational • Also competed in the 1,500m and 5,000m runs, posting season bests of 4:05.89 and 15:15.14.

2015-16 SEASON
Cross Country: Did not compete during the cross country season.
 
Indoor: Competed in both the mile and 3,000m during the indoor season, posting career-best times in both events.
 
Outdoor: Opened the outdoor season with a career-best steeplechase time at the Bill Cornell Invite to finish third. 

2014-15 SEASON
Cross Country: Clocked a season-best 8K of 25:55.2 at the Bradley Intercollegiate.
 
Indoor: Did not run during the indoor track season.
 
Outdoor: Ran in the 5,000m at the MVC Outdoor Championship • Competed in the 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m & 5,000m during the outdoor season. 

HIGH SCHOOL
Champaign News-Gazette Runner of the Year as a junior • Earned all-state honors as a sophomore after finishing 19th at the state meet • Also earned all-state honors in track as part of a state champion 4x800 relay team • Helped the Sabers to a state cross country title in 2012 • Also lettered in swimming.

PERSONAL
The son of Arthur and Kenda Hess, Nikolas was born in Champaign, Ill. • Two siblings: Anna-Kae and William • Majoring in entrepreneurship.
