Dustin Vissering

Dustin Vissering, a Central Illinois native with extensive sports medicine experience in professional baseball, joined the Bradley Sports Medicine staff as Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Training Services in February 2021.
 
Vissering, who earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Illinois State University and his master’s degree in sport management from Western Illinois University, began his sports medicine career as a student athletic trainer at Illinois State in 2008 and his professional baseball experience includes stints with the Chicago Cubs (Peoria Chiefs), Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers organizations, as well as with the 5-franchise affiliated Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League.
 
In addition to his work in professional baseball, Vissering gained business experience  while working for Goode Surgical/Arthrex as inventory coordinator, sales representative and in field operations.
 
In his most-recent position as Rehab Athletic Trainer for the Texas Rangers from 2018-21 , Vissering was directly involved with the successful injury rehabilitation of more than 60 players, including nine on the 2020 MLB roster.  In addition to his hands-on rehab services, Vissering was responsible for administrative duties, including regular communication with the team insurance group and the maintenance of patient records and use of the MLB Health Management System.
 
While pursuing his postgraduate degree at Western Illinois, Vissering served as Leathernecks Baseball Director of Operations during the 2013 season, as well as graduate assistant athletic trainer from 2011-13, working with football and men’s basketball as an assistant athletic trainer and two seasons as the baseball head athletic trainer.
