Overview

A transfer from Hampton University, Rogers sat out the 2006-07 season due to NCAA transfer rules ... Has two years of eiligibility remaining after earning two letters at Hampton ... Will compete for a starting spot in the Braves front court ... Described by Coach Buscher as a good scorer and rebounder ... Originally recruited by Bradley out of St. Teresa’s High School in Decatur, Ill., she is the first Division I transfer for the Braves since Stephanie White transferred from Missouri in 1997-98.

“We are excited to have Monica come back home and play here at Bradley.  She is a good scorer and rebounder and will give us a physical presence in the front court.  It was tough for her to sit out last year, but was one of the top players in practice each day and we are looking forward to her returning to the court this season.”

 

2006-07 Season (Redshirt Year)

Sat out the 2006-07 due to NCAA rules after transferring from Hampton ... Was allowed to practice with the team.

 

Hampton (2004-05 & 2005-06)

Averaged 10.8 points per game as a sophomore at Hampton ... Was the Pirates leading rebounder and was tied for second in the MEAC in rebounding at 8.2 boards per game ... Hauled down 10 or more rebounds a total of nine times and led the MEAC in double-doubles with nine ... Appeared in all but one game in 2005-06 and started 14 ... Led the team in field goal percentage, shooting nearly 51 percent and led the MEAC in offensive rebounding, snagging 3.7 offensive boards per tilt ... Started 12 of 27 games as a freshman in 2004-05 ... Averaged 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field as a freshman.

 

High School

A four-time letterwinner, she averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 4.2 steals per game as a senior, leading the Bulldogs to a 33-0 record and Class A State Championship in 2003-04.

The daughter of Donna and William Rogers, Monica was born April 27, 1986 in Decatur, Ill. ... The middle child of five, she has four siblings: Yachika (27), Charrmaine (25), Whitney (20) and B.J. (18) ... Majoring in dietetics ... Older sister Charrmaine played basketball at Chicago State.
