Alyssa Johnson

A recent graduate and standout with the Western Illinois cross country and track and field programs, Alyssa Johnson is in her first season as an assistant coach at Bradley.
 
A native of Washington, Ill., Johnson capped her collegiate career with the Leathernecks by qualifying for the NCAA Preliminary for the first time in 2017, competing in the 800m run in Austin, Texas. Johnson was also an All-Summit League honoree in the 800m run and 4x400m relay, while establishing three school records (indoor 600m, indoor 4x400, outdoor 600m).
 
Off the track, Johnson was twice named team captain at Western Illinois, while also serving on the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years.
 
After graduating, Johnson worked at RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center, serving as a Strength & Conditioning and Sport Performance coach as well as being a personal trainer. Among her responsibilities at the complex, she led workouts and assisted in training programs for various sports, provided wellness education and advocacy, conducted physical fitness testing and also was involved in facility management.
 
Johnson graduated from Western Illinois in 2017 with her bachelor’s degree in exercise science with minors in nutrition and psychology.
