A Peoria, Ill., native, Susan Urry joined the Bradley Women’s Golf program in August 2014 as a volunteer assistant.
She played full time on the Futures Tour in the late 80’s and early 90’s, as well as the Players West Tour, the Central Florida Challenge, and the Sunshine Tour.
Urry joined the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Division in 1991 and began her teaching career at Murray Parkway Golf Course in Salt Lake City (UT). Two years later, she met LPGA qualifications as a Class 'A' Teaching Professional. In 1993, she and her husband moved to Tallahassee, Fla., where she served as the Assistant Coach at Florida State University for both the men’s & women’s golf teams.
While at FSU, she earned her master’s degree in sport psychology in 1998. That same year she and her husband moved to Arizona and Urry affiliated herself with Continental Golf Club, near Old Town Scottsdale.
In 2011, Urry attained LPGA “Life Member” eligibility and recently updated her status. In April 2014 Susan returned to her roots, and returned to Peoria. She is the Head Golf Professional at Donovan Golf Course and continues her instruction at Peoria’s Golf Learning Center.
Urry’s teaching philosophy has transformed over the years to include some of the philosophy from her mentor, the late Jerry Barber, a former PGA Champion and regular on the Senior PGA Tour. She excels at teaching individuals with different physical characteristics, different methods of analyzing information, and different levels and areas of experience.
