Brittany Johnson joins the Bradley Braves women’s basketball staff as the associate head coach for her first season at Bradley, bringing extensive experience as both a standout player and accomplished coach at the collegiate and professional levels.

Johnson arrives in Peoria following four seasons at Northwestern, where she served as an assistant coach after joining the program in May of 2022. Prior to her time with the Wildcats, Johnson spent nine seasons at Chattanooga, helping guide the Mocs through one of the most successful stretches in program history. During her tenure, Chattanooga captured six Southern Conference regular season titles and made four NCAA Tournament appearances.

Before transitioning into coaching, Johnson built an impressive playing career highlighted by her time at Ohio State, where she earned All-Big Ten honors and finished as a 1,000-point scorer. Known for her elite shooting ability, she ranks among the top three-point shooters in NCAA history, connecting on 42.4 percent from beyond the arc during her collegiate career.

A native of Olney, Illinois, Johnson established herself as one of the most decorated high school players in state history at Olney High School. She scored 4,031 career points, becoming the first player in Illinois history, male or female, to surpass the 4,000-point mark. Her total still ranks second all-time in state history. As a senior in 2007, she was named Illinois Miss Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging 36.4 points per game and setting a then-state record with 1,202 points in a single season. In 2018, she was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In 2025, Johnson was inducted into the National Athletic Hall of Fame for Student Athletes.

Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State and went on to play professionally for two seasons in Greece and Israel before beginning her coaching career under Hall of Fame head coach Jim Foster at Chattanooga.
