Maletin Perfect, but Braves Fall at UIC

GRIFFITH, IN – Bradley junior Sandra Maletin enjoyed a perfect day on the courts, but her two wins led to the only two points of the day for the Braves in a 5-2 dual match loss at UIC (6-2) Saturday afternoon at Match Point Tennis & Fitness Center.

Maletin teamed with senior Natalia Barbery for a 7-5 win at No. 1 Doubles to even the doubles scoring. The Braves (6-5) grabbed the early lead, 1-0, when the pairing of Bozana Lojpur and Nikki Perlwitz pulled out a 7-6 (7) win at the No. 2 Doubles position.

After UIC took a 2-1 lead by rolling to wins at Nos. 3 and 4 Singles, Maletin pulled Bradley into a 2-2 tie by breezing to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 Singles. The two-time Missouri Valley Conference All-Select performer improved her singles recor to 16-2 overall and 9-0 at No. 1 during the dual match season.

The Braves were unable to build on Maletin's play, however, as UIC won out to clinch the non-conference dual victory and end Bradley's 4-match winning streak.

Bradley will return to action Sunday morning by visiting Chicago State at the HF Racquet & Fitness Club in Homewood, IL.
