Kyle Trewyn

The 2023 season will mark Kyle Trewyn's ninth with Bradley Baseball and his seventh since returning to the Braves as a full-time assistant coach. Trewyn began his work at Bradley as a volunteer assistant for two seasons from 2012-14. Following two years as an assistant at NCAA Division II Quincy University, Trewyn returned to The Hilltop in the fall of 2016 as a full-time assistant.

Leading the Braves as the program’s recruiting coordinator and hitting coach, Trewyn has had a profound impact since returning to Bradley. The Braves have posted a winning Missouri Valley Conference record in each of the last four seasons – marking the first time in program history to accomplish the feat.

Individual success has also become common during the team’s recent run under Trewyn’s watch. Bradley has collected 20 All-MVC honors over the last four full seasons. First baseman Connor O’Brien highlighted the accolades as he became the first player in school history to earn first-team All-Valley honors three times (2019, 2021 and 2022), while Bradley’s 58 home runs during the most recent 2022 season are its most since 2001.

In his two years at Quincy, Trewyn served as the hitting coach, catching instructor, infield instructor and first base coach. The 2016 Hawks set program records for batting average (.334), home runs (89), doubles (124), RBI’s (483) and runs scored (517) while compiling a 39-18 overall record and repeating as the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional. In Trewyn’s two seasons with the Hawks, Quincy also won the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Western Division championship and produced two NCAA Gold Glove winners and 17 All-GLVC players, including 2016 GLVC Player of the Year Ryan Snyder.

Snyder is one of two players to enjoy historically significant offensive seasons with Trewyn on the staff. In 2016, Snyder broke Quincy’s single-season school records for hits (92), home runs (23) and RBI’s (88) to win the GLVC triple crown, while earning both All-America and Academic All-America honors. During Trewyn’s first season at Bradley in 2013, outfielder Mike Tauchman led the nation in batting to earn the Joe Carter MVC Player-of-the-Year award and consensus All-America honors.

Prior to his previous stint at Bradley, Trewyn worked as an assistant coach at Minnesota-Duluth (2011-12) and his alma mater, Cardinal Stritch (2010-11). He also was the head coach of the 2012 Sheboygan A’s in the Wisconsin State League, a summer collegiate baseball league.
