PEORIA, Ill. -- Seventh-year Bradley volleyball head coach Scott Luster announced Batavia, Ill., native Katrina Goncher has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Bradley and continue her volleyball career on The Hilltop.

A 6-1 senior middle blocker at Rosary High School in Aurora, Ill., Goncher helped lead the Royals to a school record 32 wins this fall. Rosary finished the 2004 season with a 32-5 record, claimed the Suburban Catholic Conference title and were also regional champs.

Goncher led Rosary with 132 blocks on the season and also added 135 kills while owning a .553 hitting percentage as a senior. She earned all-conference honors from the Suburban Catholic Conference and helped the Royals to the sectional finals.

“We are very pleased Katrina has chosen to attend Bradley and join our volleyball program,” Luster said. “She is a talented performer with a great work ethic, fighting spirit, and outstanding growth potential. I believe she will significantly enhance our middle blocker position.”

As a junior, Goncher and the Royals posted a 31-7 record and claimed conference and regional titles. Goncher has played club volleyball with Marengo, Ill., based Club Fusion. She helped Club Fusion to a first place finish at pre-Nationals in addition to a second place showing at the Minneapolis Qualifier and third place finish at the Tampa Qualifier.

Goncher is the first recruit to sign for the Braves during the early signing period. Bradley closes out the season Saturday against Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. at Robertson Memorial Field House.
