PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley senior soccer player Luke Kreamalmeyer (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville H.S.) is one of 66 players that has been invited to participate in the 2005 adidas MLS Player Combine Jan. 8-11 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., according to an announcement from Major League Soccer today.
Kreamalmeyer completed his Bradley career last month by earning repeat, first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors at his midfield position. Kreamalmeyer led the Braves with eight goals, nine assists and 25 points during the 2004 season and helped Bradley (10-6-3) reach the semifinals of the State Farm MVC Tournament for the seventh consecutive season.
Kreamalmeyer ended his career fifth in school history with 72 points and fourth with 20 assists during his four seasons. During those four years, Bradley compiled a 47-27-12 overall record, including a 16-10-5 mark in Missouri Valley Conference regular-season games.
MLS general managers and members of all 12 MLS coaching staffs will be at the combine to scout players, who were selected to participate by a panel of select NCAA Division I coaches in conjunction with MLS coaches and select NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA coaches. The MLS SuperDraft will be held Jan. 14 in Baltimore.
Kreamalmeyer is attempting to become the fifth Brave to be drafted by a Major League Soccer team. Bryan Namoff was the program's first MLS pick by D.C. United in 2001 and the former Bradley All-American helped United to the 2004 MLS Cup last month. Gavin Glinton was selected by Los Angeles during the 2002 SuperDraft, while Hamid Mehreioskouei (Los Angeles) and Tim Regan (New York/New Jersey) both were picked in the 2003 SuperDraft.
Namoff and Regan will return to Peoria tomorrow night as special guests during the Peoria Rivermen's East Coast Hockey League game at Carver Arena. Both former Bradley Soccer All-Americans will be available to sign autographs during the game. Namoff recenlty completed his fourth season with D.C. United and was the starting right back during United's run to the league championship this fall. Regan is a second-year reserve with the MetroStars and has won the team's Honda Humanitarian of the Year Award during each of his first two pro seasons.
