CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Senior Lindsay Stalzer had 25 kills and 11 digs, but no other Bradley player had more than five kills as the Bradley Volleyball team ended its season with a 30-19, 30-25, 30-23 loss to Illinois State in the first round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Friday morning in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Braves ended the season with a 16-17 overall record.

The 2005 MVC Player of the Year, Stalzer recorded her team-leading 19th double-double of the year with her 25 kill and 11 dig effort against the Redbirds. She finished her career with 1,948 kills and her 720 kills on the season ranks as the 12th best season total since the NCAA switched to the 30-point rally scoring format in 2001.

Illinois State (18-11 overall) had four players with nine or more kills and hit .324 as a team. The Redbirds also owned a 10.5 to three advantage in blocks and posted a 64-58 edge in digs over the Braves. Mary Catherine Richmond led Illinois State with 13 kills and seven blocks.

Senior Gillian Falknor led Bradley's defensive efforts with 21 digs. Falknor finished the year with 538 digs, which ranks as the third best season total in school history and 10th best season in Missouri Valley Conference history. Today's 21-dig effort marked the 11th time this season Falknor topped 20 digs in a match. Falknor moved into 16th place on Bradley's career digs list and finished her two-year Bradley career with 871 digs.

The Braves hit .110 as a team on the day, including an .044 attack percentage in game two. Sophomore Jenna Harrison chipped in with five kills and hit at .364 clip, while junior Amber DeBroux (four kills) and senior Briony Hammet (three kills) were the only other Braves to record more than two kills.

Illinois State advanced to this evening's first semifinal match and will face #2 seed Missouri State at 5 p.m. at the West Gym.

Bradley finished the year 16-17 overall, marking the best finish to a season since the 2002 campaign when Bradley ended the year with a 19-12 overall record.

The Braves lose a total of five players in Stalzer, Hammet, Falknor, Ashley Vance and Jasmine Kinslow. Stalzer set the MVC record for kills in a season and career and also owns the school mark for kills in a match. Hammet is one six players in program history with 800 kills, 800 digs and 100 service aces and ranks in the top 17 in school history in kills and digs.

Vance, the only player in program history with three seasons with 1,000 or more assists, finished third on Bradley's career assist list and also ranks 25th at BU in career digs. The Braves libero this season, Falknor's 538 digs this year were the most by a Brave since 1985 and is one of the top season totals in Valley history. Kinslow will forego her final year of eligibility after graduating May and completes her three-year career having appeared in 19 matches.

Bradley returns nine of 14 letterwinners in 2006, including four starters from this year's squad.
