Braves Trounce Quincy 85-43 In Final Exhibition Game

Flanagan?s Double-Double Not Enough In 73-61 Loss To Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. ? Sophomore Devyn Flanagan had career highs of 25 points and 11  rebounds for her first career double-double, but Bradley was unable to overcome 24 turnovers and a poor shooting night as the Braves fell to tournament host Miami (Fla.) Friday night at the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament.

 

Flanagan led all players with 25 points and 11 rebounds, hitting seven of 11 shots in the second half and scoring 17 second-half points.  Freshman Skye Johnson scored all eight of her points in the second half, hitting 4-of-6 from the field. 

 

Bradley (2-1 overall) held a 14-10 lead with 13:43 to play before the half, before Miami used an 18-2 run over the next 7:11 to take a 28-16 lead.  The Braves defense tightened, holding the Hurricanes to just two points in the final seven minutes of the half.  Bradley made a small dent in the Miami lead, outscoring the Hurricanes 7-2 to close the half and went into the locker room trailing 30-23.  Neither team scored in the final 2:39 of the half.

 

The Braves outrebounded Miami 26-17 in the opening 20 minutes of play, but shot 32.1 percent from the field and committed 16 turnovers before halftime.

 

The Hurricanes extended their lead to as many as 16 points in the second half, leading 59-43 with 8:23 to go, before the Braves mounted a rally.  Bradley trailed 65-51 with just under four minutes remaining, before scoring six consecutive points to cut the deficit to eight points (65-57) with 2:10 to play. 

 

The Braves were unable to cut any further into the lead as Miami pushed its advantage back to double digits with late free throws in the 73-61 Hurricanes victory.

 

Bradley committed eight turnovers in the second half and outrebounded Miami 46 to 42 and held an 11-5 edge in second chance points.  The Hurricanes held a 24-4 advantage in fast break points.

 

Miami (2-0) had three players score in double figures with All-American candidate Tamara James posting a double-double with 23 points and 10 boards on 8-of-12 shooting. 
Renee Taylor added 22 points, four assists and four steals for the Hurricanes, while Melissa Knight chipped in with 15 points.

 

Bradley will face Duquesne at 6 p.m. (EST) Saturday in Coral Gables, Fla., in the third-place game of the Miami Thanksgiving Tournament.
