PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior middle blocker Lindsay Stalzer tallied 27 kills and also had 12 digs for her team-best fourth double-double of the season as she helped lead the Bradley Volleyball Team to a 30-27, 30-27, 25-30, 30-24 victory at Creighton to open Missouri Valley Conference play. The Braves won for the fifth time in the last matches to improve to 5-6 overall, and 1-0 in Valley play.

The Braves won the first two games by the identical score of 30-27. Creighton's Leah Ratzlaff notched 11 of her 27 kills in game three to help lead the Bluejays to a 30-25 win in the third set. Stalzer and the Braves put Creighton away in the fourth game, as Stalzer had nine of Bradley's 19 kills in the game and boasted a .381 hitting percentage in a 30-24 BU victory. The Braves hit .409 as a team in the final game, recording 19 kills and just one hitting error.

Bradley improved to 15-8 in conference openers and ended a four-match losing streak in the series with Creighton with the win. Stalzer was the only Brave to reach double-digits in kills, tying Ratzlaff for match-high honors with 27 on the night. Junior Amber DeBroux added nine kills and two aces, while sophomore Nikki Pierzchala had eight kills and tied a career high with 17 digs for the Braves.

Senior Briony Hammet chipped in with six kills on just nine swings for a .667 hitting percentage off the bench. Hammet had three of her six kills in the fourth game. Fellow senior Ashley Vance finished with her second double-double of the year with 31 assists and 11 digs.

Creighton fell to 5-5 overall and 0-1 in Valley play with the loss. Stalzer's 80 attack attempts in the match was a record for a Creighton opponent and the most attack attempts by a Bradley player since Abigail Kohnen had 82 attacks against Illinois-Chicago on Oct. 26, 1999. In addition, Stalzer recorded her seventh 20-kill effort of the year and the 21st of her career, while moving into sole possession of third place on Bradley's career block assist chart.

Bradley returns to action Saturday at Drake at 7 p.m.
