PEORIA, Ill. -- Freshman Kelly Krumwiede posted her first career double-double in the first start of her young career and junior Ashley Chelleen tied for game high honors with 18 points, but Indiana State used a 22-3 in the opening minutes of the second half and cruised to a 70-59 victory over the Bradley Women's Basketball team Thursday night at Robertson Memorial Field House.

Krumwiede scored eight of her 14 points in the first 6:30 of the game, helping the Braves take an early 14-6 lead. The Sycamores made just two of their first nine shots during the Braves opening run, but heated up slightly connecting on 11 of their final 27 shots in the final 13:31 of the period to take a 29-28 lead at the half.

Indiana State hit six of its first nine shots to open the second half, including four three-pointers, to open a 22-3 run that saw the Sycamores extend the lead to 20 points at 51-31 with 13:01 to play.

Bradley trailed 67-48 with 3:10 remaining before making a late push. Chelleen scored five points and Krumwiede added four points of her own to highlight an 11-0 run that pulled the Braves to within eight points (67-59) with just over 30 seconds on the clock. Indiana State made three of four free throw attempts in the closing seconds to claim its 10th straight victory with a 70-59 win.

Chelleen tied Indiana State's Lisa Verhoff for game high honors with a season-high 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting off the bench. Chelleen also added seven rebounds in 21 minutes of action. Krumwiede made her first career start and finished with 14 points and season-best 17 rebounds. Her 17 boards are the most by a Bradley player since Dena Williams snagged 17 rebounds against Southern Illinois on Feb. 2, 2005.

Sophomore Devyn Flanagan was also in double figures with 11 points. The trio of players combined for 43 of Bradley's 59 points and shot 20-for-35 from the field. Bradley (4-10 overall, 0-5 MVC) shot 39.3 percent from the field and hit just 3-of-16 three-point attempts (18.8 percent). After committing 12 first-half turnovers, the Braves committed just four in the second half.

Indiana State (12-2 overall, 4-0 MVC) had four players reach double figures with Verhoff leading the way with 18 points as she connected six of her 10 three-point attempts. Kristen Weddle added 15 points and eight boards, while Melanie Boeglin had 13 points, five assists and four steals. The Sycamores shot 51.7 percent in the second half and made 8-of-11 three-point attempts in the final 20 minutes of play.

Bradley returns to action Sunday when the Braves host I-74 rival Illinois State at 12:05 p.m. at Robertson Memorial Field House. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net with Dan McLaughlin and Jill Hutchison calling the action.
