Men?s Golf In Eighth After Two Rounds At IPFW

AUBURN, Ind. -- Senior Ryan Saurs tied a season-best with a one-under par 70 in the first round and is currently tied for sixth after two rounds of play at the IPFW Fall Classic being played at the par-71 Deer Track Golf Club in Auburn, Ind. The Bradley men's golf team is in eighth place after 36 holes and is seven shots behind Butler for seventh place.

Saurs tied a season and career-best with a 70 in the opening round and followed that with a 71 in the afternoon to finish the day tied for sixth place in the 54-person field at 141. David Byrne of Detroit is the individual leader after two rounds, sitting at seven-under par 135 and has a two-shot lead.

Junior Nick Roth fired a second-round 73 after shooting 78 in the morning to end the day tied for 40th at 151. Tommie Ackerman is one shot behind Roth in a tie for 42nd place at 152 after carding rounds of 74 and 78. Senior Scott Phegley had rounds of 77 and 78 to finish the day at 155 and tied for 48th while freshman Zach Zobrist saw his first action of the fall and shot a 76 in the first round. Zobrist fired an 81 in the afternoon and finished the day tied for 51st at 157.

Detroit sits atop the team standings with an eight-under par 560. Oakland and Loyola are both tied for second place at 570 with tournament host IPFW alone in fourth place at 572. IUPUI is in fifth place with a two-round total of 578 and Wisconsin-Green Bay is sixth at 580. Butler is 10 shots behind Wisconsin-Green Bay in seventh at 590 with the Braves completing the field in eighth place at 597.

Bradley closes out play at the IPFW Fall Classic Tuesday with one round of play.
