PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior volleyball player Amber DeBroux (Byron, Ill./Byron) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Thursday, after helping the Bradley volleyball team to a 1-2 record last week.
DeBroux averaged 3.67 kills, 2.11 digs and 1.33 blocks per game, while hitting .226 in the Braves three matches last week. She had nine kills and six digs in just two games in Bradley's loss at Illinois-Chicago and followed that with a 14-kill, seven-dig effort in a four-game setback at Illinois State. She capped off the week with one of the best all-around efforts of her career with 10 kills, six digs, six assists and career high eight blocks (two solo, six block assists) in Bradley's three-sweep of Indiana State. A marketing major, DeBroux owns a 3.39 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
DeBroux and the Braves (5-16 overall, 2-7 MVC) return to action Friday when they face co-league leader Missouri State at 7 p.m. at Robertson Memorial Field House. Bradley concludes its current three-match homestand Saturday against defending regular-season Valley champion Wichita State at 7 p.m.
