PEORIA, Ill. -- Seventh-year Bradley women's basketball head coach Paula Buscher wasn't surprised that the play of several of the Braves upperclassmen highlighted play at the team's annual Red-White scrimmage Friday night at Robertson Memorial Field House. Senior center Ashley Chelleen (Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln) scored a game-high 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting helping the Red squad to a 39-35 victory.

Chelleen led all players with 13 points, hitting 4-of-5 shots from the field and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line, while adding four rebounds to help lead the Red squad to the victory. Transfer Monica Rogers (Forsyth, Ill./St. Teresa H.S./Hampton) made a big first impression in her Bradley debut, tallying 10 points and eight rebounds for the Red team in the 20 minute period.

Junior transfer Felicia Nekmouche (Uppsala, Sweden/Katedral H.S./Kankakee C.C.) also had a solid outing, finishing with nine points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal without a turnover for the Red team, while fellow backcourt mate Rachel Merriman (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S./Illinois Central) had game highs of four assists and two steals.

The senior duo of Erika Nelson (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and Amy Peters (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) combined for 21 of the White team's 35 points, as both finished in double figures. Nelson led the White squad with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, while Peters added 10 points on 5-of-8 from the field and hauled down four rebounds (three offensive boards).

Junior college transfer Jasmin Wright (Beale Air Force Base, Calif./Wheatland H.S./Yuba College) knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished with eight points and three boards in 14 minutes of play for the White team.

The juniors and seniors on the roster combined for 68 of the 74 points and grabbed 35 of the 43 rebounds in the scrimmage. The Red team committed just four turnovers in the 20 minute period and held a 13-2 edge in points off turnovers after forcing eight turnovers for the White squad.

Bradley will play the first of two exhibition games Wednesday, Nov. 1, against NCAA Division II foe Truman State at 5:15 p.m. at Robertson Memorial Field House. Bradley closes out the exhibition portion of the schedule Sunday, Nov. 5 against Quincy at 5:05 p.m.
